Our top recommendations to enjoy Big Sky country!

Safety (Because Rachel worries)

  • Check the weather, roads, and trails before you go. Be prepared for rapid weather changes, including snow and freezing temperatures at any time of year.

  • Carry bear spray and know how to use it. Stay at least 100 yards away from bears and never approach them. Travel in groups of at least three people, especially with children. Make noise to avoid surprising bears.

  • It’s recommended you stay 100 yards from bears and wolves and 25 yards from other wildlife, including elk and bison.

  • Montana is remote and wild. Always plan, prepare, and tell someone if you are going somewhere.
